Sushmita Sen born on November 19th, 1975 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh is a noted Bollywood actress, model and was a Miss Universe in 1994.
Sushmita Sen was born to an ex-Indian Air Force Wing Commander Shubeer Sen and Subhra Sen, a fashion artist and jewelry designer. Sushmita Sen has a brother Rajeev Sen and sister Neelam Sen. Sushmita Sen grew up in New Delhi and studied at Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute.
Eighteen-year old Sushmita Sen first won the Miss India title in 1994 beating Aishwarya Rai. There's an interesting story behind Sushmita Sen's Miss India title. Twenty two girls including Sushmita Sen got terrified and pulled out of the competition once they came to know that Aishwarya Rai was also one of the contestants. But Sushmita Sen's mother forced her to face the challenge posed by Aishwarya Rai. As it turned out Sushmita Sen gave a tough time to Aishwarya Rai finally winning the Miss India title in 1994. Sushmita Sen then went on to become Miss Universe in 1994 held at Manila, Philippines.
Sushmita Sen made her Bollywood debut in 1996 with "Dastak" and has since appeared in several blockbuster hit movies like "Ratchagan" {1997} in Tamil and David Dhawan's "Biwi No.1" and "Sirf Tum" {both 1999}, "Filhaal" {2002}, "Main Hoon Na" {2004}, "Chingaari" {2006}and "Dulha Mil Gaya" {2008}.
Sushmita Sen in 2000 adopted a girl named Renee as a single mother.
