Riya Sen born as Riya Dev Varma in Kolkata, the Capital city of West Bengal in India on January 24th, 1981 is a popular model-turned-Bollywood actress who also appeared in Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam and English movies.
Riya Sen was born to Bharat Dev Varma, who hails from the royal family of Tripura, and ex-Bollywood actress Moon Moon Sen. Suchitra Sen of "Aandhi" {1974} fame is her grandmother. Riya Sen has a sister named Raima Sen also a noted Bollywood actress. Riya Sen studied at Koltata's Loreto House and Rani Birla College, but soon dropped out and later attended National Institute of Fashion Technology for a while. She learnt belle dancing and Kathak, a classical dance form and kickboxing. Riya Sen moved to Mumbai in search of a movie career in Bollywood. Riya Sen appeared in several music videos such as Falguni Pathak's "Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi", Asha Bhonsle's "Jhumka Gira Re", Jagjit Singh and Bhonsle's "Jab Samne Tum and Kahin Kahin Se", Lata Mangeshkar, Bhonsle and Singh's "Dil Kahin Hosh Kahin", Sonu Nigam's "Jeena Hai Tere Liye" and Shaan's "Sutta Maro".
