Genelia born as Genelia D'Souza on August 5th, 1987 is an amazing Tollywood actress. The dusky actress Genelia has won several awards, honors and accolades for her wonderful performances in several movies. The awards include Fimfare Awards, Nandi Awards, FNCC Awards and Santosham Awards.
Genelia was born into D'souza family who are Catholic Christians hailing from Mangalore in Karnataka. Soon the family moved from Mangalore to Mumbai where she studied at Apostolic Carmel High School in Bandra and joined St. Andrews College for her graduation. Genelia grew up becoming an athlete and a wonderful football player. She was almost into sports but destiny has in store something for her. Luck smiled on her when Genelia was spotted by an ad film maker at one of the weddings in their family.
Soon the dusky sensuous girl Genelia appeared in a Parker pen commercial alongside Amitabh Bachchan and later did a Fair & Lovely commercial with Krishnamachary Srikkanth. Ace Tamil film director S Shankar who has a keen eye for spotting talent has seen the ads done by Genelia and was so impressed by her charm and disarming smile that he launched her movie career with "Boys" in 2003. The film became a blockbuster hit and Genelia was catapulted to instant fame down South.
The hot n cute actress Genelia has since appeared in several major hit Telugu and Tamil movies such as "Sye" and "Samba" {both 2004}, "Naa Alludu", "Subhash Chandra Bose" and a Tamil movie "Sachein" {all 2005 releases}, "Bommarillu" and a Tamil film "Chennai Kadhal" {both 2006} and "Dhee", A Kannada film "Satya In Love" and a Tamil movie, "Santosh Subramaniam" {all 2007 releases}. Genelia has also made her Bollywood debut with "Tujhe Meri Kasam" in 2003, a remake of Telugu super hit film "Nuvve Kavali". Two of her upcoming Hindi films have been lined up for release during the mid-year which she hopes that they would establish her as one of the top actresses in Bollywood.
