Amrita Rao the dazzling model-turned bollywood actress has come a long way since she hit the limelight with a Fairever Face Cream commercial campaign.
Amrita Rao who was born on June 17th, 1981 decided to become a psychologist first and then an actress. Gorgeous Amrita Rao while pursuing her college studies, she casually attended the audition for Fairever face cream. Since she auditioned for the sake of auditioning she never expected that she would be selected. But to her surprise, this dazzling beauty was chosen over 60 other beauties to become the face of the Fairever face cream.
Ever since, hot Amrita Rao became one of the famous super models in India. With in a year, hot Amrita Rao became the face that launched famous brands. She appeared in print & television commercials of Pantene Hair Wash, Wriggly Chewing Gum, HMT Watches, Clean & Clear Face Wash, Domino’s Pizza, Anne French, and Bru, Close-up toothpaste, Cadbury’s Perk and several others.
However it was Cadbury's Perk television commercial that landed her into movies. The Cadbury ad attracted the attention of several filmmakers in bollywood. First it was Rajkumar Santoshi who wanted to cast her in his film 'The Legend Of Bhagat Singh'. But Amrita declined on the ground that she wanted to first complete her psychological studies first. Next it was Raj Kanwar who got in touch with her with a lead role in his 'Ab Ke Baras' in 2002. Though the film failed at the box office, Amrita Rao's wonderful acting talents got noticed and offers began pouring for her.
Amrita's next film 'Ishq Vishk' [2003] starring Shahid Kapoor became a hit and her performance has been critically hailed. Amrita Rao then continued her success streak with several films like 'Main Hoon Na' [2004], 'Vivah' [2006], 'Welcome to Sajjanpur' [2008] and 'Victory' [2009]. She also delivered a brilliant performance in a Telugu film 'Athidhi' [2007] starring Mahesh Babu.
While bollywood is abuzz that Amrita Rao is romantically linked-up with her co-star in 'Victory' Harman Baweja, Amrita denies saying, "He is a friend... let people enjoy thinking whatever they want."
